In just three weeks, Annette has become a veteran traveler and has already begun to assert herself. Much to Tom’s dismay, they now travel in first class train compartments. She has also taken over the daily routine of finding grocery stores and planning subway and bus routes to attractions. Tom’s responsibilities have been reduced to cooking, washing dishes, and doing a bakery run every morning before Annette rises. He accepts this about as well as any other maladjusted control freak.
